Owner Cindy Voorhies Jordan is a New Iberia native. She’s loved plants and gardening her whole life, and created, nurtured and tended garden paradises in New Orleans, Alexandria, Baton Rouge and her longtime home in Carencro.

She graduated with a B.A. from UL Lafayette (formerly USL) in 1988 and received a law degree from LSU in 1995. While living in New Orleans, Cindy started a law practice, focusing on entertainment and copyright law. She moved back to Acadiana in 2003 to be closer to family — and changed careers and pursued her life-long passion for  horticulture.

Louisiana Gardener magazine recognized her talent, and since 2006, Cindy’s written the monthly “Ask the Expert” column, fielding questions from readers across Louisiana. She also writes feature articles spotlighting Acadiana’s most unique and beautiful gardens.

In January 2009, Cindy founded Sugar Magnolia Landscaping, offering her decades of passion and experience to Acadiana families and businesses.
